On October 9th I shot Chris & Sara's wedding at the Old Church downtown. It was a windy and rainy day, but that didn't get in the way of them having a day that was full of love and laughter and some good Beaver Duck rivalry as well. :) The rain also let up long enough for us to get a few shots in the park blocks after the ceremony. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.

Today I had a lovely coffee date with my extra lovely friend Megan. We turned it into a mini photo shoot too and I love the shots we got. She is so gorgeous and they have a nice and cozy/semi holiday feeling to them. Since the holiday season is right around the corner I thought I would post these to get my blog in the holiday mood. :)

Katie's Trash the Dress

Last month I met up with Katie in Mt. Angel to do a Trash the Dress shoot with her. I had to wait a little while to post photos because this was her surprise anniversary gift to her hubby of 4 years! So, first off... awesome that after 4 years of marriage and having 2 kids she can still easily fit in to her wedding dress!!!

So, we started in Mt. Angel and then headed up to the beautiful Oregon Gardens in Silverton, and then came back for a few more railroad/icecream truck shots. :) I love doing these shoots so much and it was such a fun day!!! Thanks Katie!!!

I have been neglecting the blog in order to stay on top of my editing for clients, sorry blog. But I thought I would take a little editing break since I am almost caught up on my weddings of 2010!

Here are some of my favorite photos from a wedding I shot at the end of July. It was a seriously perfect day. A beautiful location, and an stunning couple Samir & Ema. There was so much sweet love between friends and family in this wedding. I loved every minute of it.

I met up with the Giard family to take their photos at Rood Bridge park in Hillsboro the other day. It was so much fun getting to know Heather and Kent and their adorable kids and it was a beautiful day too. I also loved the way they all matched but the ladies wore a splash of purple. Welcome home to a country wedding...

Danny has been serving over in Iraq until recently. First off, thank you Danny for your service!!! And I know Lisa, amongst many others, was very happy to finally have her fiance home so she could put a ring on his finger. :) Danny & Lisa tied the knot a few weeks ago (July 16th) at Postlewaits in Canby, OR. I love this venue... and I love this couple! They were so laid back and fun throughout the day and it was so much fun photographing them. They are so clearly in love and every look, kiss, and moment just came naturally with them. It was definitely a fun day at work for me. :)

Dave & Makenzie got married on July 10th on Makenzie's Dad's property in Beaverton, OR. It was a pretty warm day but as the sun started to go down it provided a beautiful sky and a perfect evening for one of the best receptions I have been a part of. Makenzie and Dave are such a good looking couple and so clearly in love that taking photos of these two was so easy. Thank you guys for having me be a part of your day! Everything about it was gorgeous!

Last week I met up with Robert, his Mom, his fiance, and his 3 awesome kids. They were in town for a visit and it was clear how happy they all were to be spending some time together. There is nothing better than good times with the ones you love.

In August of 2009 my husband Greg and I shot Nikki and Tucker's wedding in Montana and throughout the day he captured some footage of me shooting so I decided to put together a little video with the collaboration of some of our work. I feel so fortunate to be doing what I truly love and also that I was able to meet and fall in love with a man that I get to work with every once in awhile and can truly understand the long saturdays I put it. He is so talented and creative and I loved seeing both of our work come together. And a little good music helps too. :)

Grant & Elsa: Married 06.26.10

Grant and Elsa got married a little over a week ago and I had a blast shooting this wedding. Elsa and her 3 sisters got along so well and they seemed to truly be best friends, which was so neat to see. The love between both families was so evident. It really was my absolute pleasure to spend my day capturing moments with these people. It is weddings like this, with so much undeniable love, and people like this, who are so thoughtful and kind, that make me love being a wedding photographer. Thank you so much to the Larsons and the Webers for having me be a part of your day!

Kyle & Caitlin: engagement shoot...

Kyle and Caitlin are getting married in a little less than a month and I am really looking forward to their big day! I got to know them even better a couple weeks ago when we met up at Pittock Mansion for their engagement shoot. Even though the forecast said rain we decided to go for it, and I am so glad we did. It stayed clear throughout our time at the mansion and then we went down to the waterfront to do some more shots of this awesome couple and a few with their equally awesome dog, Kahlua. The thing I loved the most was the constant laughter going on between the two of them. For me laughter = love. :)

Danny & Lisa: engagement shoot...

A little over a week ago I met up with Danny & Lisa at Forest Park to do their engagement photos. They are getting married in a few weeks at Postle Waits (One of my favorite wedding venues) so I am glad we were able to do these photos before the big day. Danny has been in Iraq and recently returned home and it was wonderful to see Lisa and Danny together and the obvious love they have for each other. I can't imagine the difficulties of having your loved one away at war, but it was very clear that it has only made their relationship stronger and they are so happy to be back together. I had a great time with Danny & Lisa (and Danny's adorable daughter Taylinn). Especially towards the end of our shoot when they rolled up their jeans and stepped into the cold water.

Brennen & Kiana are expecting their first baby girl and they have decided on the name Harper, which I love. They were married last September and I had such a fun time shooting their wedding day, and last week when we took these photos it was another super fun day behind the lens with this couple. They are such a great pair, a perfect match for sure, and they are ALWAYS laughing. It is always my biggest challenge to get a "serious" photo of these two... that's a good thing! Here are some of my favorites.

A little over a week ago I had did a trash the dress shoot with Sarah, a friend and former bride of mine, and it was quite possibly the most fun I have had behind the lens in um.... ever. :) It was a beautiful sunny day in Bend, OR but the deschutes river was still quite chilly, but Sarah was up for anything. And I was so glad! Here are my favorite shots from the day....

A white wedding, in May...

A few weeks ago my husband and I made the 12 hour drive to Butte, MT to shoot Martin and Erika's wedding on May 22nd. We shot a wedding in Montana last August and I was so excited to get the chance to go back to this beautiful state again. The weeks prior I had been checking the weather forecast and didn't believe the "chance of snow" that was listed. We woke up to blue skies the morning of the wedding and that made me happy as we were hoping to take some shots outside at the church after the ceremony, but when we walked outside to head to the reception the roads were covered and it was coming down so hard it was hard to even see. Throughout the reception the snow continued to fall and by the next morning 8 inches of snow was on the ground as we headed back to Portland. But it was a beautiful wedding, with so many amazing details from the bride's stunning dress to the perfectly pink candy bar and the snow was just one more fun, beautiful detail to add to their day. It was also Martin's birthday and I loved all the birthday surprises Erika planned for her new hubby. They were so much fun and clearly so in love and I know they will have a very happy marriage together. Thanks so much Erika & Martin for having us shoot your wedding!!!

A week ago I got together with Dave and Makenzie to shoot their engagement photos. Makenzie and I were friends when we were little :) and it is always so wonderful to see old friends end up with great people in there lives. Shooting with Makenzie and Dave was so much fun, and so easy. They are so clearly in love and compliment each other so well. A little over a week ago I shot Sam & Kelsey's wedding in Eugene, Oregon. It was supposed to rain that day but besides a few sprinkles here and there we had a nice clear day. It was perfect. Kelsey was such a gorgeous bride in her sexy short wedding dress and she and Sam along with their families and friends were so much fun to spend the day with. Kelsey also has GREAT taste in music (in my opinion) so the play list throughout the day helped to make it all just that much more enjoyable.

On March 20th I had the privilege to shoot Trask & Kari's wedding. The day was filled with amazing backdrops for this perfect couple... the nines for getting ready photos, the Schnitz and the waterfront for group photos, and then the gorgeous Acadian ballroom for the ceremony and reception. It also didn't hurt that we ended up having absolutely beautiful weather on the first day of spring!

I have had a few opportunities to spend time with Trask & Kari over the years as I have shot a few weddings for friends of theirs, and they are SUCH a great couple. So clearly in love with each other and so much fun to be around. Here are a few of my favorites so far...

I recently went on a trip with my husband to Europe. We covered a lot of ground and made stops at the following locations: Barcelona, Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence, Venice, Milan, and Kandern, Germany and saw a few places in France and Switzerland. It was an amazing trip with my wonderful husband, and we got to visit with a few of our best friends that live in Europe and I am so glad we experienced it together in our first year of marriage. Last Saturday, March 6th, was an unusually beautiful day for this time of year in Oregon and I was lucky enough to be photographing Mike & Lyndsey's wedding in St. Helens. It was such a fun day from beginning to end. Today I had the privilege of shooting maternity photos for Kira, an absolutely stunning mommy to be. I had so much fun during this shoot and could not ask for more amazing natural light, which was provided by the floor to ceiling windows in their building. One of my favorite things about what I do is how I get to watch love grow. I shot Reuben and Shirlyn's wedding in September of 2008 and then last weekend I got to take photos of their 3 week old beautiful little girl Evelyn. It is so great to be there to watch 2 people pledge their love to one another, and then when love creates another life, it is so awesome to be able to share some of those special moments with others as well. Reuben's parents own an alpaca farm, and they had an alpaca as their "ring bearer" during their ceremony, so it was fitting that we took some photos of Evelyn in an alpaca hat. :) They are some of my favorites from our shoot. Thanks to Shirlyn and Reuben for inviting me out to take these photos. Evelyn is so sweet and I had a really hard time putting down the camera. I hope I get to photograph her again in the future.

winter wonderland...

On sunday morning I met up with Kristin & Rian up at Mt. Hood for their engagement shoot. We were hoping for clear skies originally but it was snowing hard the whole time we were there, and I was actually really happy for the snow in the end. It made it so much fun and a new challenge for me to work in too. They say no two snowflakes are the same and this is definitely true for people as well... and that is what I love about what I do. I have done quite a few engagement shoots but every time it is new and different, and this was no exception... and was one of the most fun shoots I have had in a long time. Kristin & Rian are high school sweethearts and it was so clear how comfortable they were with each other and also how very much in love they are. I am shooting their wedding along with my husband in August and this shoot just made me even more excited for their big day!

I was so thankful to get out of the rain for a few hours and into the beautiful snow... with a beautiful couple!!!

On Monday I got together with some good friends, Dustin & Bridget. They have been married for a few years now and Dustin proposed to Bridget at Hotel Vintage, which was the final stop on the scavenger hunt proposal he created for Bridget. Quite the impressive and creative way to propose I must say! So, we decided to take some photos there and walk around Portland to see what else we could find.

It was so fun spending the afternoon taking photos of them. It was a definite change of pace from our usual hang outs at Mcmennamins or watching Blazer games, which I always enjoy, but it was a nice to see them through the lens. They are a great couple and it became even more clear to me during our shoot how much they truly love each other. :) Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day...

Last Saturday morning I got together with the Kumar family for a shoot. We lucked out and had overcast skies but no rain. We did some indoor shots but they live next to a beautiful open field with horses and I wanted to take advantage of that. :) It was so fun working with the beautiful backdrop and seeing the kids interact with the horses. They are such a great family and it was so much fun getting to know Samir and Meena, as well as their super happy and photogenic kids. :) Thanks so much for sharing the morning with me!

My good friend Cori had a baby about a year ago and over the weekend she turned 1! I met Peyton in the hospital and got to hold her when she was so tiny and over the last year I have had the opportunity to photograph her multiple times and see her grow into this beautiful and super happy little girl. Luckily, I also got to see her smash her cake for her first birthday. I just love baby P so I wanted to share a few of these photos.

Yesterday I met up with Christina and her daughter Ashland for a shoot at the Pittock Mansion. We lucked out and made it through the whole shoot without a drop of rain. I've taken pictures of Ashland since she was a baby, and she has always had a big personality, and even more so now that she is 3. She was cracking me up the whole time we were together and she made me work for her smiles... but I got 'em. :) Thanks for the fun saturday morning girls!

yoyo camp gives back...

Over the weekend my husband put on a yoyo camp for his after school yoyo university students and any others that wanted to join in the fun. He and his friend/professional yoyoer Colin teach kids how to yoyo weekdays at different elementary schools in the area. For more information check out their website www.prophezy.com. Colin's fiance Emily and I helped with registration and then I decided to take a few photos while I was there...

The kids ranged in age and skill level and it was so fun to watch them yoyo and to see that it was not only fun for them but a confidence builder as well.

We thought this would be a good opportunity to collect donations as well, so we collected food and clothing donations from campers and we were overwhelmed with the amount of donations. It was awesome!!!

The day included a yoyo show during snack time...

as well as competitions and prizes at the end.

Overall it was a great day and I'm glad I was able to be a part of it!

Today my friend/client Whitney sent me a message saying she was stressing because she couldn't find her wedding photos and then she thought to ask me...

A little over 4 years ago Whitney & Jeb hired me to shoot their wedding. It was the first wedding I had ever shot and it would turn out to be a defining moment in my life. So, when Whitney contacted me today I was so happy to ease her mind and be able to say, "don't worry, I have all of your wedding photos". I have spent the last couple of hours going through Whitney & Jeb's perfect day and reliving that nervous and exciting day for myself. It was 4 years ago, but I remember exactly the way I was feeling... photographing Whitney as she got her make up done thinking this must be the best job on earth, nervously switching rolls of film as Whitney and her dad were about to walk down the aisle, and doing my best to capture each moment of the day. Now after having the opportunity to do photos of Whitney numerous times, shoot maternity photos for Jeb & Whitney, and then just a few weeks ago take some family photos and few shots of their beautiful baby boy I am once again brought back to that wonderful feeling of, this must be the best job on earth. Being a part of peoples lives on their most special days is so amazing, and I am so lucky that this is what I do. I truly could not ask for more and I am so very thankful for all of the people who allow me to be a part of their lives.

So Whitney & Jeb, thank you so much for having me be a part of your special day which was always one of the most important days in my life, the day that I really decided this is what I want to do. :)

Carrie & Erik Part 1...

A couple weeks ago after some rainy days, we had a crisp and surprisingly clear day in Oregon. It was chilly outside, but an absolutely perfect day for a fall wedding. Carrie & Erik got married at what I swear is the most adorable church in Portland, the Oaks Pioneer Church, and their reception was held at the very beautiful Lake Oswego Country club. Carrie was such a beautiful person from the inside out and I think she found her match in Erik. I had such a great time with them both, as well as their wonderful families. They were fabulous people that were so much fun and I hope to have the opportunity to spend time with them again!

Over last weekend I traveled to Bend to do newborn photos for the Kunklers. I shot their wedding in August of 2008 in Sisters, OR at the beautiful Five Pine Lodge and it was nice to spend some more down time with them and really get to know them, and their adorable baby boy, Travis. Snip, Snip, Shoot...

Today I shot group and individual portraits for the girls of Taglio Salon. When I spoke with DeDe, the owner, she said she wanted to do funky industrial portraits with the girls... I was super excited. Each girl was stunning and stylish. We met at the Montage and shot all around that area. With the unpredictable weather this time of year I figured a safe choice would be somewhere with a covered option so there we were able to use the overpasses as a cover, and it was perfect for industrial backdrops. But we actually lucked out and it stopped raining for the majority of the shoot. The girls were such troopers walking all around in the cold weather, on the rocks and train tracks in their heals. They were awesome and it was super fun to photograph them. Thanks DeDe, and all the Taglio girls, for a fun afternoon... and thanks Sara for all the cuts and colors! :)

Abby's Senior Photos...

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Oregon and a lovely day for a shoot... so, I was very happy to be able to walk around Sherwood, where I live, and take Abby's senior portraits. It was great spending a few hours with her and learning more about her plans after graduation, and photographing her was really fun too. She has blue eyes that sparkle and the sweetest smile, and she fell into great poses so naturally... the whole shoot I was trying to convince her to take up a career in modeling. :) It was also nice to see that just down the street I have some great backdrops for portraits at my disposal.

Between the beautiful weather and the stunning girl, my job was made pretty easy. Here are a few of my favorites so far...

Last weekend I had the opportunity to shoot Kylie's senior photos. I have had the privilege of photographing Kylie multiple times over the years and it is always a blast. She is very photogenic with her sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile, but she is also hilarious and so much fun to be around. The night before I confirmed our shoot via text, and jokingly stated "you better be ready to work it" and she responded "I was born ready"... and she was. :) Here are a few of my favorites.

Last weekend I was able to take photos of 9 month old Peyton. We had a lot of fun together! She is so much fun to photograph and I hope to be able to capture many more special Peyton moments in the future.
Peyton thought the leaves were delicious. :)

The day was beautiful from start to finish and slowly but surely it turned into quite the dance party, including a zoolander style walk off. Thank you Mackenzie & Scott for having me as a part of your day! It was awesome and I am certain you will have a long and happy marriage, full of laughter.

Last Saturday, October 10th, I shot Mackenzie & Scott's wedding at the Mcmenamin's Kennedy School. Mackenzie and I were great friends back in the day... performed classics like "rubber ducky" together in the school talent show... it has be wonderful reconnecting with her over the last couple of years. Their wedding was the first that I have shot since my own wedding and I was very happy to be back behind the lens again. Kennedy School had so many great bars/rooms, details, and cool spots to work with. Plus it was where I was proposed to, so it has some special meaning to me as well. :) It was a lot of fun. And while it was rather chilly, the sky was clear so we were able to shoot outside as well. It was a perfect day for a great couple.

I couldn't get over the bride's awesome shoes... Her something blues she wore for the ceremony and then went to the sneakers for the reception. Loved her style.

Her brother Pat worked as bridal security. :)

Last month I had the privilege of doing a maternity shoot for Jeb & Whitney. They are beautiful people, inside and out, and I have had the honor of shooting Whitney multiple times as well as shooting their wedding about 4 years ago... which was the first wedding that I shot on my own. It has been so wonderful to share these incredible moments with them and to watch their love grow... soon they will have a baby boy named Jaxon...

A Big Sky Wedding...

So I have been slacking a bit on my blogging because I got married last month, so things were a little busy... but now I am back from the honeymoon and excited to share some of my recent work.

So first, my dear friends Nikki & Tucker got married at the end of August and hired me and my husband (that's fun to say) to come shoot their wedding in Feely, Montana. It was my first time in Montana and I fell in love. It was the most perfect backdrop to the most perfect day. Nikki is absolutely hilarious and she also knows how to work it in front of a camera so needless to say, the day was a breeze for me. :)

It was a great trip over all and to be there and capture moments on my friend's special day was an honor. I hope to be visiting the Edmunsons again very soon.

On Saturday I got to shoot a family portrait. There were 4 sisters, their husbands, 12 kids, and their Mom.They were all in town for the newest baby's baptism, and we had to shoot quickly so they would get there on time, but I think we still got some great shots in a short amount of time.They were an awesome family and it was so fun. I hope I get the chance to work with them again in the future.

Gil & Christina's engagement shoot

Yesterday I shot engagement pictures for Christina, my old roommate, and her fiance Gil. It was the first day below 100 degrees so far this week and it was a beautiful night for it. We started at a Dawson Creek Park in Hillsboro...

It was fun to watch them together and see how very much in love they really are. It made my job pretty easy.

We of course had to do a few photos showing off the rock :)...

Then we headed over to the Washington County fair for a few more fun shots. One of their first dates was at the Rose Festival so this took them back to feel of that date. It was fun to focus on them amidst the craziness of the people, games, and rides...

I had the pleasure of working with the same family, the Hollands, twice this summer. First for Lindsay & Chris's wedding and than the second time was on July 11th for Jackie & Evan's wedding. Both were 2 of my favorite weddings to date. Such beautiful brides, handsome and fun grooms, and such a fun group of people all around!!! I also had my good friend Julie there with me for a few hours doing a little practice for shooting my wedding in a few months. And basically any day I get to hang with Julie is a pretty good day. :)

On June 27th I had the privilege of shooting Megan and Trevor's wedding which took place in their backyard. It was a small wedding and it was nice to see just how close each attendee was to the couple. Megan had just completed grad school and it was clear how proud her family was of her to have completed that huge accomplishment, and now to be getting married. On June 20th I shot a wedding with Megan & Taylor Finley, they are a great couple and it was obvious how much they loved each other throughout the day...
It was such a fun group and we had a lot of time before the ceremony so we were able to do lots of different group shots. Some of my favorites to date...
The ceremony took place at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and it was beautiful...

The ceremony took place at the Forestry Center. The evening had the perfect mix of fun and emotion. And despite the off and on drops of rain, it was a perfect day...

On June 6th I shot a wedding with Lindsay & Chris. It took place at the Adrianna Ballroom, which is a beautiful location and she was a very beautiful bride... and luckily we ended up with beautiful weather, despite the thunder storm the day before. :) Plus I got to shoot alongside my future hubby who was the videographer which made it even more fun. This was the 2nd wedding we shot together, the first was the day we met. :) Overall it was just a great day...here are some of my favorite shots...

Yesterday I met up with Brandee & Erik for an engagement shoot. We had a lot of fun shooting around OMSI with the awesome city scape backdrop. Then we went over and got a few more shots at the rhododendron gardens, where they will be getting married in September of 2010. They are a really fun couple and I hope to get to work with them again in the future...

Julie & Jeremy kicked off the wedding season for me. They are such a great couple and their friends and family were so much fun as well. From the pre ceremony game planning with the guys to the hilariously decorated getaway car at the end, the night was full of laughter and love.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to do photos for the Millers. When Broden, their oldest son, was on the way I did maternity photos for Deb and then we met up to do family portraits in Portland about a year ago. And I was lucky enough to get to photograph them again now that their 2nd son Camden arrived. This time I went to their home in Scappoose...

I love shooting at people's homes because they can relax and be comfortable, but also it gives the opportunity to learn more about them and sometimes allows for more unexpected photo opportunities... Broden loved playing inside his Dad's truck...I had a great time photographing Camden. Babies are so fascinating and I love how so much personality shows through, even when they are only weeks old. Camden had such curious eyes and was such a thinker. :)

Jenna arrives

My 3rd niece arrived at 10:30am on March 23rd, 2009. I had the amazing privaledge of capturing her first moments of life. I was able to do this for my niece Makena's birth as well, and there is absolutley no comparison to that amazing experience.

Being there was incredible for me, and the images I was able to capture for my brother and sister-in-law had a huge impact on them and made it possible to almost relive the experience. Seeing the joy it brought to them inspired me to offer this service to other expecting parents. It is such an incredible time and to have those emotions captured is a wonderful thing. I am hoping to provide this service for more couples with my new Miracle of Life package. :) It includes a maternity shoot, delivery shoot, and newborn shoot. if you are interested please let me know.
